 There are some neighborhood retired gentlemen that have a huge garden with massive tomatoes just begging to be made into a Southern tradition: tomato sandwich. Mind you, the proper tomato sandwich consists of the following: garden ripe beefsteak tomato, gooshy white bread (fresher the better...the kind that sticks to your teeth) salt and pepper and a proper mayonaise, not that junk, Miracle Whip but Helman's or Dukes or Blue Plate.

I like the idea of this but it leaves me wanting more. I'm missing much contrast. I think that's essential for a black and white image. The perspective is looming. I wish you were more in front of him with the tomatoes in focus and the man more blurred, but that's just me.

Hmmm - maybe if you played with contrast and levels, you might be able to enrich the overall tonality of it. I don't mind the slight saturation of the tomatoes, but maybe a slight boost in color would give it some more pop.

Great focus and composition. I like the selective desat too, but the red is a little understated for my taste. As a Southerner myself, I love tomato sandwiches and had several from my own garden! :-) Very nice photo.
