This was totally accidental in the fact that I was out with my son and we spotted four small sailboats on the beach so we walked over to take a few photos of them. Next thing you know this family with a young girl were video taping what looked like the first steps the child had on a beach in water. Decided that this would be just perfect, me photographing them while the mother was video taping the husband with their precious, stumbling little girl. It was perfect!

Hope everyone enjoys it.

It looks like the focus on the original image may have been too soft, and you then over-sharpened to try to compensate for this. The color cast makes this look like a faded family snapshot; if this was intentional, adding a little bit of noise might have helped to flesh out the effect. It may just be the odd shape of the shore in the background, but the horizon feels like it's tipped slightly.

This is very nicely framed (the shorelines, not the border) and captures the spirit of the challenge exceptionally well. Congratulations

Nice image. Good composition and the "soft texture" fits the subject.

I would have liked this better if the people weren't so small in the picture. Don't need all the background.

Focus seems off, subjects too small

This is enchanting. I love it. Every family has had an experience like this, and if not they should!

Shot is too busy. I know the focus should be on the family but Im drawn to that nice water and ole lamp post.

I like the glowy effect, it really works here.
Even though I don't like sticking to the rules, the rule of thirds could of helped here.

A cute image. I'm glad that mommy knows to get down to baby's height! :)

the soft focus works well here - very nice warm memory type feeling. Did not even need the title to convey that

Nice use of soft focus. Overall composition is pleasing to the eye. The colors are natural too.
