My two littlest sisters out picking flowers in our backyard/field behind our house. (It's really too big and overgrown to call a "yard," but w/e...)
Not expecting it to do too well, but I've been trying to submit to at least one challenge a week lately, and sports just didn't inspire me.

PP:
cropped, converted to b&w, upped contrast a tad, added unsharp mask.

Great shot in black and white, I agree with previous comment on the 60's feel, very Woodstock for me, I LOVE IT. Great capture!!!

Great DOF. This goes to show that the foreground doesn't always have to be in sharp focus. Good choice with B & W as well.

This is such an awesome shot. Gives me like a 60's feel with their dresses and long down hair. I just love it. I would love to have this on my wall.

Nice yard, when I grow up and have a home I'm going to plan dandelions everywhere because I like them. I hope they spread to my neighbours lawn and then they get mad. I will then paint my house in a rainbow of different colors but put hidden messages in it only I can find and chuckle to myself about.
Oh yes, your picture...
Ever try a tritone? I can see this as a nice goldeny or even pinkish one, it would give it more of an edge over normal black and white. I also would like to see the little girls not so center, if they were more to the side then they would have better impact and pop out more against such a huge field of lovely overgrowness.

I'm OK with B&W for a flowery field, but I think I'd increase the contrast a little in the darker midtones.

Good b&w and lovely image. Not sure though if the blurred forground makes it better.

I love the idea and composition of this one.....I am a huge fan of black and white, but wonder how this one would have looked in color?

Nice shot, but it doesnt say family to me. If the challenge would have been sisterhood I would have voted it high.

Nice photo of two children in the field. I think the bottom could have been cropped closer to get rid of the OOF portion. Other than your title there is nothing that connects this, for me anyway, to family. Just two kids in a field. It is not even clear, without close scutiny, that either one is picking flowers let alone picking flowers for mommy. Perhaps if mommy was in the shot it would help.

for some reason I think this would do better in a panoramic landscape format. Anyhow, this is one of my top picks in this challenge. good luck

Lovely idea. I wish the girls were seperated a bit so both were shown fully. Also I would suggest cropping the bottom (OOF) portion of the image.

I love the fact that it's not in colour. also the fact that the blurred flowers lead your eyes to the girls and they in turn lead you to the end of the picture. nicely done

bit less forground and more background I think and it they where just a bit more to the left then it would have been perfect.

Nice! I wish it wre not cropped so thin. Maybe lose a tad of the foreground for my taste.
