A kiteboarder doing a big air for me at the beach on saturday. These guys love having their picture taken. As soon as they see a photogpaher with a long lense they go berserk.
I'll probably get hammered for so much post-processing but the picture just didn't cut it on its own.
Kinda like the mediocre chef smothering meals in a rich sauce, hehe.
Oh, and yes that is noise. And I like it that way.

A striking graphical representation with a golden touch on the post processing. Congratulations on your top 10 finish.

Great pic. Not as good a title though. Still giving you a high score.

silhouette and the background color make this photo.

I love it.

I think I would have liked to see a bit more of the sail in this shot. I like the silhouette and stop motion of the water. There seems to be quite a bit of noise in the background which is distracting. 6

great silhouette

Except fpr a couple of sensor dust spots, this is a near flawless piece of art, not easy for a sports category. This is my top pick for the week.

Very nice! Most certainly one of the better picture in this challenge!
While one could argue that silhouettes have been done to death here on dpc and in photography I still think it is quite tastefully done here and it doesn't detract from the action in the picture.

The composition is quite nice though I wonder if it would have looked better in a square framing where one could see more of the bottom and the top.

However, the main fault I see with picture is that it is somewhat difficult to understand the action in this shot. I noticed earlier this year when photographing snowboarders that they find it essential in snowboarding-photographs to see the ground as to be able to determine how high the snowboarder is jumping and what trick he is doing. Naturally, being someone who doesn't know much about snowboarding I very often failed to do so, much to their dismay.
Anyway, I wouldn't exactly call it a fault with this picture that you don't see the water and therefore it's difficult to determine how high the guy is jumping but it would probably have depicted the action slightly better that way.

One could also argue that the apparant 'grainyness' in the lower half of the picture is quite distracting. At least I most certainly think that many people will give you a lower score than otherwise. However, believe this isn't exactly grain but instead it is the water droplets flying upwards. Am I right here?

Well, enough of this. Job well done!

Great silhouette. The graininess adds to the mood of the image. I feel that if the subject were a bit on the diagonal the image would be much more dynamic.

I really like this photo. My only critique would be the white highlights on the silhoutte are a little distracting. 9

Very grainy, but perhaps you intended that.
