Well, after experimenting with this little leaf for a long time, flash here, flash there, trying to hit it at just the right angle, this that, the other thing...I finally (after my 4th trip to the computer downloading and examining the outtakes one by one) decided to shoot without any flash whatsoever.
I used two small 70w lights in my home-made soft-box for this. One was positioned at the top, through the box to diffuse it, and light the scene evenly. The second peaked its head around my PVC pipe to give a little shadow on the left side, and illuminate the little lines all over the leaf.
I didn't worry about lighting and WB because I knew I'd be comverting to a B/W or duotone.
PP included a bit of sharpening, crop, resize, convert to grayscale, then duotone, add border, save. |

A very soothing photo. Something different from every other leaf photo. I give you a 10. |

Nifty... Though a bit too soft focus for me. |

Really nice use of b/w and depth of field to draw attention to the texture and not the entire leaf.
Good luck |

Nice filter. The composition is very effective. I might use a touch more contrast. Simple and effective 8 |
