Teaching my 4 year old how to ride a two wheel bike. Set the camera on tripod with remote timer set for 20 shots with AIfocus set and let it go. I shot this with the "Independence" challenge in mind, but didn't enter because I thought the "Independence" part was a little vague.

I'm glad you have this showing on your profile page. It's still one of my favorite shots at DPC - I can recall this one from memory.

I love this shot. It takes me back to someplace in my mind with my kids. Great choice on the duotones.

Really like the shot. The backlighting is a big part of it for me. Not sure but cropping out some of the right side might make it even better.

This is just incredible. I haven't played with my remote timer much. This makes me want to pull it out! The natural framing of the trees works perfectly. Very emotional shot. I think this would have done well if you had entered it in the Independence challenge you mentioned. It would have gotten a 9 or 10 from me :) Of course, I am very partial to children & family photography!

Just saw this. VERY nice shot. Definitely belonged in "independence", it precisely captures the-moment-of... Favoriting it now. Good job!

Should have entered. I love this. The golden tones, the stances...I can almost feel that bike wobbling just a bit! Just a wonderful family moment captured.

Wonderful, especially with nobody behind the camera. Well anticipated. Lovely light. Focusing and dof have worked out well too!

This is a great pic! I think it would have done really well in the independence challenge....it really catches the mood. Your son will love this when he gets older too :)

I caught this one off the "self potrait" forum. I find this photo very emotive and I like it a lot. It really shows a very strong emotion of father and child. Always like a non-modelled shot, such as this one. great job!

I also think this is a very, very nice image, which would have absolutely received a good score for Independence, but even better, it will be fantastic on your wall at home, with copies given to all your family! I love the way the light is coming from your left with your right hand reaching out to guide your son.

I, for one (ok, maybe more than one), think this is an exceptional capture. You should be very proud of it, and there better be at least an 8x10 on your wall for posterity's sake! :)

This would have been a perfect entry into the Independence Challenge. I would have given it a 10. I think this screams independence.

This is a wonderfully nostalgic capture. One that I'm sure your family will enjoy looking at way into the future. The light, setting and dof are perfect.
