This is very nice although I have a feeling it would do better in a different challenge. I have a feeling people will vote it down because it could've been taken somewhere other than the zoo. I really like it though. |

I don't understand how this meets the challenge. |

Excellent photo of your melon. But its hard for me to give it more than 5 because of the challenge. I am looking for animals here.

This seems well off the challenge. Nice still life though. |

I'm not sure what to do with this. Are you saying that when you bring out the watermelon it's a real zoo around there? I'll go with that and give you an outside the box 6 for creativity. |

Having read the challenge description, I am certainly aware that "things you might see at the zoo" are viable shots for this challenge. Even so, I'm much more inclined to vote favorably on kids and/or animal photos... however yours is a fabulous exception and I'm glad to vote it a 9.
As for the photo itself, besides the obvious (color, focus, exposure) what I like so much is the composition, for example, the way the deep red of the watermellon starts and ends in the all-white areas of the plate and then the background. Also like the blue/white checkerboard being used to frame the shot. Bravo! |

Cute picture. Can you picnic at zoos? It isn't really fitting the challenge for me though. Sorry. |

And because you're at the zoo this snack will cost you $2 per slice. I'll spare you the "Where's the animal?" comment, as I'm sure you've had a few. This is without a doubt, the best watermelon shot I've seen so far in this challenge ;-) God luck to you, it'll be interesting to see where the masses put this. IMO, the composition & focus are great. I might have used a grassy background or a picnic blanket or basket behind the plate to give a more outdoorsy feel. Good luck! |

i acknowledge people often eat lunch at the zoo, but i don't feel this meets the challenge. |

I don't think I'd carry a watermelon around a zoo however I like the message you're conveying. 7 |

Out of the box! niiiice.
Ok, i gotta admit I don't think the zoo has such lovely plates for the snaks, but personally I love this idea a lot more then most of the other pics in the challenge.
Also, I think the BG is a bit blown out. I would love to see some details in it. 8 |

Probably will be voted down because there's no animal in the shot. However, I've seen this before at a zoo. :-) I think the white in the top is a little overpowering however (IMHO). |

Kind of a strange animal. |
