Composition:
When I first looked at this shot I didn't have any idea of what exactly I was looking for. Sometimes this factor can be a positive aspect, but is usually a negative. I think that the streaks of colour in the background are brilliant. It would have provided a more pronounced effect on the viewer if they were stronger and more visible at first glance.
The falling glitter is sharp in some places and blurry in others, despite the depths of each one. I must say though, that if the glitter was falling at a considerate speed, you did a great job shutter-speed-wise on capturing several individual particals in a way makes them "pop" for the viewer. If all of them were as sharp imagine how they would look!
On one hand, the blue and green hues are appealing to the eye. On the other hand, it's nearing overboard with blues. Again, it would have improved the photo overall if those background colours were brighter and more apparent upon first glance.
Background:
The solid black of this background means that the objects in shot are the main focal points, and there's nothing to distract from that. However, since the glitter on the outside of the photo are darker, they merge into the background and aren't as distinct as they could have been - perhaps a lighter colour background would have helped give more contrast.
Meets Challenge: Yes, this photo does meet the challenge criteria, but I'm not feeling the texture of the glitter. I can just barely see the edges of each partical. Next time try a faster shutter speed to stop the falling particals in the shot.
