Canal Lock Gates

Yes it really is green.
This canal was blocked off just beyond these gates in 1970 to build the M5 motorway.

Plans are underway to build a tunnel under the motorway so that the canal can be re - opened...

1. Cropped
2. Some tweeking of colour adjustment
3. Feivels Gothic Glow Action on new layer
4. Faded gothic grow layer.
5. Cloned out white van under trees on RHS tow path (they get everyehere)
a small sign on the lock and a small white patch on left hand side of lock
4. Sized for DPC

** Greetings from the Critique Club **

Very interesting image. The colors are vibrant. DOF is good. Focus is soft - but is well suited for this image. Interesting that you entered this in the wooden challenge though as the subject does not strike me to be the pruple painted wood, but the algae filled stream itself.

Wow! Brilliant shot. The colors are definitely what makes this photo great. Detail is so sharp in the foreground, and very, very soft in the background. Great work on this! My vote for a blue ribbon!

This is beautiful. Your editing (or filter?) gives this an ethereal look.

The floating slime is quite interesting. Its bright green and the black structural steel work well together. I like the way the water flows diagonally through the photo. The texture made by the green slime on the lock gates interests me and I wonder whether there might have been a stronger picture in here that emphasizes this ( or if perhaps this texture becomes evident in a good enlargement.. ) In any case, I cannot overcome the impression that the subject is a little weak or diffuse or confusing.

Interesting choice for the challenge. With all that muck, you can't hardly tell there's wood in there. Certainly doesn't make me want fish anytime soon!! haha
