excellent capture, especially with the shadow. this is a great start. what next?
keep in mind, in action photography, the only thing you really have control is your camera. once you have mastered controlling your camera, you can work on the art of 'story-telling' the action. here, you have nailed the capture. what can you do to put more story into it? try it with a much, much shorter dof, so that the background blurs.
the next thing you can try to control is your perspective (sometimes, you just have to make due with the angle or position you are in). when you can, take a test shot and check out how the background comes through. you might find that a different angle, or moving to the right or left, will give you better background colors that will complement your image. the other aspect to perspective is whether or not it will make your image dynamic, as if your subject is bursting off the image. this might mean getting down on the ground, or standing on a ladder.
try reshooting this with these things in mind and see what happens...
again, great start! |
