I really like this picture. And I am definitely not one to critize frames. But I gotta say this... this one is bugging me a little.
The problem is that, on the right side, it black line appears as a high contrast shadow against the white border. In effect, it feels like the border is a "thin, but noticeable matte" that is on top of the picture.
HOWEVER, on the left side, the gray shadow sends the opposite message... that the picture is "floating above" the white background.
And so I get confused as I scan left to right on the top edge of the photo. Is the image floating above the white background, or is it underneath the white matte?
The bottom edge (left to right) sort of answers the question, but almost "too late", I've already become confused by the time I reach the bottom.
Since you signed your name on the white border, I would treat it more like a matte. Make it look like a matte (on top of the picture) all the way around, and then it will be just perfect.
(for one who never complains about frames, I've just much more than I would, but I hope I expressed myself clearly) |
