My own miniature version of hay bales in the field, with the planes responsible in the background.

Advanced editing wasn't allowed for this challenge, but here's a post-challenge link to the nicer duo-tone version...

When I was growing up, one of my uncles who is a carpenter was doing a lot of work at our place and one of the things I really enjoyed was wathing the 'rondhaa' as we call it. I used to sit and watch the shapes the little pieces of wood were making. This image throws me back to my childhood. It's your focus and presentation that does that.

I think this is a very clever idea! I love the set up of the wood shavings, nice diagonal and then the planer in the background on the other diagonal. The lighting is a bit bright on my monoitor with a couple of hotspots. Its a great concept!

7 - Met the Challenge. I do like this composition and the concept and think it is very creative. I think the sepia? tone works well and of course really like the 'shaving curls'. Criticism; Those said shaving curls, if they were in super sharp focus, all of them, or perhaps at least the centre one, would make this a much better photograph in my opinion. I like the shadows that play with them and the detail in the grain both on them but especially on the wood they are sitting on and if you could have brought out that aspect more, for me would make this better. I like the 'distant' planes, but perhaps less (or just careful placement) of the shavings on them, so as not to detract from their detail, would make this a better photograph in my opinion. Also they are a little too 'blurred' in my opinion and they lose their definition (especially re this Challenge). Definitely would have been an 8 if at least 3 of those 'curls' were nice and sharp and a little 'nudge' here and there to get them perfectly in line. Good creativity.

I'm not sure what you're making here.... it looks like.... wood shavings? At any rate, the woodshavings, or whatever, themselves, are very clear. The color scheme is good for this image. I can see the tools in the background, and although they're not in focus, you can definetly tell they seem to be a 'behind the scenes' sort of importance in this image. Not bad :-)

if only the tool in the background can be slightly more in focus? Blur is good but its too blur.

good idea, but the background is a little busy and distracts from the foreground. like the sepia colour

Cute. Not sure I'm too crazy about the lighting and the angle at which the photo was shot. Good subject matter though. Interesting DOF
