My wife and I woke up at around 4:30am. We both heard thunder. So we decided to go outside to see if there was any visible lightning. There was, of course. We sat outside for a little while and watched the storm roll by. I finally decided to get out my camera. I had never tried to take a picture of lightning before. I finally managed to get two pictures. This was the better of the two. The orange cast on the house is from a street light about 40 yards away. I made some minor contrast adjustments, curves, and burned the cloud that is sitting on the bolt...just to give the picture some more depth...and added a border.

I like this better than the other much higher placed shot. The other shot is burned out, but this has beautiful lighting throughout. The lightning is spidery and brightens a patch of sky.

Be proud of this one.

Cool shot, I like the contast from the building to sky. My only complaint is that the lightning just isn't vivid enough.. not sure if it was an exposure problem or the clouds were dimming the bolts.

Interesting shot. I've been trying to figure out how to do these shots myself over the past few days and with no luck. I like it because its not to bright or to dark the only thing I'd wanna see more of is the lightening. Good clarity and works well with the frame (even tho I don't like frames). Well done and good luck in this challenge. <7>

I love the lightning. You might have just cut out even more of the roofline and it would still be effective.
