When I read the challenge description, I immediately thought room -- wide open, room to grow, breathing room, etc. I set out to this one place where I knew there were tons of hills, and trees alone on those hills...I spotted this one, and waited a bit for the sun to work its magic.

Post processing included conversion from raw, sharpening, some dodge and burn to make things pop, selective coloring, crop, resize, sharpen, add border, adjust levels. Then a final touch of brightness / saturation on a mask layer and fade it some for the sky...which I feel brings the attention downward to the subject.

I'm not too sure if this 'definition' of the word room will do so well in the challenge, but this is my view, and I'm sticking to it.

Oh, special thanks to the Dixie Chicks for the image title...I just felt it fit well.

another shot where your eye for composition really shines through. Very simple, yet a strong shot in its simplicity. Great timing for the capture as well. The shadows are in just the right proportions to the non shaded areas and really add a great element to the overall scene. Nice work!

Lovely, the light on the tree makes it look like it is made of paper.

'7' - Nice concept. Criticism; for me, I would like to see slightly bolder colors, the sky is nice as it is but I would like to see more contrast on the green/hill, especially picking up more of the shadows. Also, for me, if you had cropped it to remove that branch(?) middle to left fore, would be better. If it was possible, a horizontal rather than vertical frame, would have made this a better photograph (and more apt given your title) in my opinion.

The lone tree and the short grass is great! I like the shadows across the lawn, it adds depth and interest to the shot. Very well done! 10

Nice minimalism feel to it, I would like it even better if there was more empty space to the left of the tree

I feel like the theme for Six Feet Under should be playing in the background!
Great illustration of "room". <9>

like the pic, but as the tree is so dominent it's not 'wide open' space to me...

Simple. Gorgeous. Maybe a tad more saturation would improve, but I love the play of light and shadow on the ground.

I love this photo! The shadows on the ground really add to this picture!! My only complaint is the little thing in the forground imo should have been cloned out. BUT, I still love it!!

The challenge is for room. There's no room here.

Just kidding :) Nice landscape shot. Like the play of the sun and shadow on the grass, and the patches of brown works well to establish the tonal variation. Good gradation of blues in the sky. 8
