Selective Color - I can't get my mind around what this does. It doesnt make sense. I am an scientist not an artist. I need to know what is happening and I don't Anyways I managed to make this drive look like I wanted it to, but the concept still eludes me.

This is what I learned:
1. I dont get it
2. playing with selective color is waaay frustrating
3. Cool stuff does happen
4. I wont give up, I think I need to start slow - maybe just play with blacks for a while, then what? whites, then colors?

I just look at it as playing with one color or set of colors. Without disturbing or adjusting any other colors.

I like the darker edited version. Makes the texture in the trees pop out more.

I think the point of selective color is that it just brings out more of a certain color.. however, I'm not sure how it differs from Hue/Saturation adjustments quite yet.

I think you did a good job changing the colors of the trees. I guess you did that playing with the blacks? It looks good. The greens along the bottom right seem to be a little brighter as well.
I'm just feeling my way along as well so I can't really give any tips other than to keep at it. I've been practicing a lot myself and can already see a difference in my photos.
