Struggling to think of something that would fit the challenge criteria, but still be a little different from the mainstream of entries, I travelled to Salt Lake City, UT and took this photo. The hill (Ensign Peak) is solely illuminated by the lights from the city below.

Awesome, so pleased to see another star trails exposure. I only wished the trails were longer. Foreground reference makes this image. Cheers.

Don't know how long you kept your shutter open, but it needed more time to better capture the stars and their movement. I know one person that set their shutter on bulb, left it open when they went to bed, and came out five hours later. That was a really awesome image.

I like how the foreground is in focus but the sky leaves a lot to be desired. It looks like its been worked in photoshop rather then a natural occurance. I say this because the radius looks off but that could be because of the resize. Good luck in this challenge. <6>
