I've seen this illusion before...the Hermann square right? Anyway, you've done a good job recreating it here but the crooked crop distracts a bit...

Good illusion, but I don't think it makes a very good photograph...6

Not really seeing an illusion here or maybe it's just me.
08/11/2005 01:28:34 PM
I had to sit back and look at this for a couple of minutes. I think it's great.

I think a little rotation to make the lines vertical and horizontal would have helped this one

A classic representation of an illusion.
08/09/2005 04:11:03 PM
ah, a classic. not sure why you didn't crop or clone out the white chunks at the sides. otherwise a good illustration.
08/09/2005 12:19:05 PM
this is interesting, its one of those ones your eyes cant focus on completely, makes it a good illusion,
good shot, but you could have had teh boxes line up better, not crooked,
08/09/2005 09:46:30 AM
you cut out all those squares? good work, I saw the dots.
08/09/2005 05:13:08 AM
Nice illusion. Less shadows would have brought out the dots more, but it would have taken away the 3d element. Nice capture!

Ok. I know this is an old trick but at least, try to be creative with this trick. Sorry but this image just isn't working for me.

Great reproduction of a classic optical illusion. What would I change? I would like to see the black tiles more squared off and even, some are casting shadows that take away from your shot.

Nice illusion, but the cutouts are very rough and uneven.

Ha! There are no grey dots! It's all just an...illusion. lol Nice reproduction of a classic. 7

I didn't quite get this one - the title threw me. I don't see any dots. Sorry if I'm being obtuse, but I still think it's a neat shot and the boxes & lines do have an illusive feel to it.
08/08/2005 09:13:34 PM
heh, i was going to enter this exact shot but retracted in the end. well executed.
08/08/2005 09:02:27 PM
I dont see it......4
08/08/2005 07:05:05 PM
well didnt expect to see anything like this, but considering if i google "illusion" this is what they'll show me, i cant really complain considering some of the other photos have no illusion what so ever. the overall photo is boring and crooked but i can clearly see the dots, 5 is all i can do.
08/08/2005 03:13:06 PM
Good effect, good detail.

I don't think this turned out as well as the graphic version of the optical illusion. The gray dots are not showing up as well in this representation...at least for my eyes. Maybe it would help if the lines were cleaner...especially on the edges of the photo. Otherwise...good attempt. Oh, and being that this challenge is advanced editing, you could have cleaned up the white patches in the black areas. 5

I get it... IMHO not very original though
08/08/2005 12:46:36 PM
this eye trick always made me dizzy. i would have liked a straighter crop - but then that would probably make me more dizzy

Just not seeing the dots.
08/08/2005 09:27:08 AM
I almost did the same one! ;^) Hard to keep the lines in order... I think this would have worked a bit better if you had included more grid so they weren't so large when viewed in the voting window. This (grey dots) works better in the thumbnail view IMO. Good luck in the challenge.

Not fair. Leave my eyes alone!!!

I almost did this illusion, nicely done. My bet many will not understand.
