What a fun shot. I would guess that your pugs are as spoiled as this one appears to be. The light background brings out the whiskers, and I like that about this shot. The tongue out adds a lot too.

Greetings from the Critique Club :o)

Composition:
The "tilt" of the camera is very playful - very much inline with your beloved pug. The "off-white" background seems to compete with the color of the pug. However, the lighting saved this image from being "washed out".

Camera Work:
The focus is off as you might already have known. This is pretty much the case when you use an aperture of f2.8. I would suggest a smaller aperture size (maybe a f5.6). The martini glass is in focus but the pug is unfortunately a bit blurry. For an image having an ISO400 rating, there is very minimal noise in this photo. It bothers me a bit that the olive is cut and not in full view.

Post-processing:
I think you can adjust the levels a bit more to saturate the color of the drink. Since the image was a bit blurry to begin with, I would probably work on improving the sharpening of this image via more USM (but not too much). The first thing that struck me when I saw this image was the weight of the border. The triple border (in this case) seems a little too heavy. Had you kept just the white border, I think this would have been a much more effective image.

My Final Thoughts:
Personally, I think that this image has a lot of potential behind it. I like how you introduced a bit of humor in this challenge. I am glad that you take photographs of subjects that you are passionate with - your pug for instance. It definitely shows persona and individuality and lets everyone know that you take photos for your own satisfaction and no one else.

This image meets the challenge in my opinion and your title is on the mark.

This is such an awesome photo! Just a few things ... The pug is slightly out of focus, and it would be great just a little sharper. As is, it's an 8 in my book! Great job! :)

There's so much I love about this photo. And there's so much that seems a little odd. That is one cute dog, His expression is perfect. The jewelry is likewise perfect. I love the martini glass, its fluid color, and the fact that an object sits on its edge. There is a graininess and an unsharpness to the photo that greatly detracts. That darn olive strikes me as a problem both for its place at the edge of the photo and for its color - being just wrong to go with ny other colored item in the photo. Perhaps for some symbolic reason I do not understand, only an olive will do. If so then maybe the drink turns to a tawny gold or some other color that works with olive. While I love it that the placement of the olive draws our gaze past the martini glass and completes a kind of triad with the base of the glass and the dog's eyes (or tongue), it just seems like courteous treatment to your major elements not to chop them in half with the photo's edge. Good Luck.

Oh this would of been magic if the dogs face was a little sharper and that border wasn't so heavy! Good effort though.

I wanted to use my do too but she wouldn't cooperate. This is a great image - It seems a little low-res over-cropped or something - but it is just great. 8

HEE HEE I like this alot. It's very clever and imaginative. Not a red car of pile of credit cards or bills. I like the angle of the glass and the pug licking her lips. I wish her eye were spot on focused, but overall, this is a great composition. Definitely A+ for imagination.

I bet I know whose pug this is!! :-) Very good shot and I love the idea!! I really like the expression although it looks like he/she is fixated on the olive. LOL Lighting is nice and I like the background.
