Hearst Castle, Roman pool. Most of the yellow you see is 24kt gold tiles! I love the colors and the reflections. Too many tourists to get the best shot, and they do not allow flash, tripods, or professional photography without written permission. If this were advanced editing, I would tweek it a bit to correct the distortion so obvious in this magnificent architecture.

Thank so much all. I know this is sort of a minimal win (5th is big for me) with so much thanks to the subject itself. Unfortunatly the conditions were too limited to get a really decent shot. The lighting was really limited, they do not allow flash or tripods on the tour because of delicate antiques and narrow stairways. Also you are rushed from place to place, very little time to scope the scene and set up a shot. The ideal shot for this pool is stright up the line of the pool to the 3 windows in the back, but the whole right side of the pool is lined with guard rails and tourists! dang! I wanted to apply some glow to it but figured that was illegal in open challenges.
Hey, 5th, wow thanks! (I owe it all to my mumy who is great photographer and needs to post much more of her work!)

Great job under challenging conditions, man, I love both of those pools, the indoor and outdoor. The skylight revealing the tile detail is wonderful.

Nicely done, I like the spot in the water to show the detail on the bottom of the pool. 8.

One of my top choices for this challenge. Good job capturing as much detail as possible with the range of light in this photo. I like how additional detail was picked up in the windw reflections.

I love love love Hearst Castle-nice shot. William Randolph exemplified the epitomy of affluence and extravagance. He and architect Julie Morgan created a masterpiece for the 1920-1940's era. I used to live 45 minutes south of the castle- what a great place it is.

good subject, but must focalize on some thing particular, exemple zoom on the water surface only to get the reflexion image of the architecture. good luck.

great ambience here, the picture itself could be a little brighter though... 7.

All this water and no one swimming i guess this is affluence.

The picture seems somewhat tilted, there is no real point of interest which is actually normal because this is an architectural shot. But it's really an abused way of showing affluence but I do like the blue.

This looks like the pool at the Hurst castle. I think this is the best photo out there and I gave it a 10. It is on topic and really depicts affluence (not just wealth). Good luck!!

I really like the idea of this picture but unfortunatly nothing really jumps out and grabs my attention. The colours could be a bit brighter (maybe not actually possible) to make it really good. Good luck

This photo intrigues me. Love the color. And wouldn't feel right swimming in it unless my suit were made of 14K gold. Nice. 9

Wow. Nice place, but I can't help thinking the photo could have been composed better. I'm no expert on composition, but this lacks interest.

nice reflection, blue...how uncommon in architecture....

I think a different angle would have done this shot well.....but i imagine such opportunity did not present itself. I have a nagging feeling that standing on the decorative features would have landed one with a potential beheading.

Ah! Hearst Castle. Nice capture especially since it's dark down there in the Roman Pool.

This was my first thought when I saw this challenge, the pool at Heart Castle (at least this is where I think you took this image). A very nice job with a tough lighting situation!
