This was a challenge to shoot. Drove 35 miles on a hazy day with the heat index of 110. Sky was milky white. I had to find a mall parking lot where I could get the steeple and antenna to line up correctly. From three quarters of a mile I zoomed my 75-300 full and took about 50 shots.
I got slammed for the sky color. I love the comment that a few fluffy clouds would have been nice. We haven't had a fluffy cloud here in two weeks. In fact, the first rain here was three hours after the deadline on the rain challenge. Now I'm getting slammed on doing a drought theme. hehe, ain't life a hoot. There are days I wish I lived in Iceland! |

Woah. This title is awesome. I love a good slam against the church now and again. The symbolism is always so deep with the church, so there's always a multiplicity of meanings. The simple link of the phallic origin of the steeple spans out tremendously... The size of cell phones seems to be such an issue these days too...
Too bad about the sky, and some elements could stand to be lined up just a hair better, but totally great concept. Like what everyone else said, the title makes it.
Nothing of course is as good as the pic in my wallet from a newspaper of Pope John Paul going in for a kiss on a 7 year old boy, on the Lips! and with his mouth Open!... |

Well it's definately a different take on the challenge theme. I know what you where going for, but to me it doesn't really work. For one thing, your sky sucks. If you had a nice poofy cloud sky it would be better. If you shot at a different time of day to bring out the depth of the shot it would be better. This just isn't very interesting to me as shot though...

| I can see what you were trying to achieve here, The idea is different, and would i feel have provided more interest if the sky was blue with a few fluffy clouds to add texture |

| This appears grainy on my monitor, could be just me. I like this shot, but I'm thinking in this case, perhaps B&W would have matched the more stark feeling here |

| thats pretty cool to see a big tower wiht a cross on it, i see teh illusiong, but seems to be over unsharpend mask, and blurry, , you could have made the sky more blue, |

| Excelent Idea! The tower is a bit off vertical, and in something like this it really doesn't have to be. The empty sky needs a bit of clouds, or dark for drama. Are there lights on the towers, some floodlights on the ground maybe? Could you try a night shot? |

| This is an unusual shot. The sky being blown out is a little distracting too, but there is a certain appeal to the steeple and framework that seemingly appears coming from it. |

| harsh lighting/soft focus especially in the treetops catches my eye moreso tha the cross intermingled with the tower, but a good find for an interesting combinations o9f subjects tha is wello titled |

| that is too perfect... I once took a similar picture of a courthouse with a "steeple" from basically the same perspective. I also like the way the tower also has a cross at the top. The perspective is great, however the trees are a bit distracting (although probably unavoidable). The image itself is grainy and the lighting too harsh. IMO great shot that would be better at a different time of day. |

| This is hilarious! I love the way you positioned the radio tower in this shot...what more could you ask for: illusion+humor..always gets my vote...sky could have been a little bluer, but I still think this is great.. |

| LOL Very cute!! Nice eye for capturing this picture. I'm not too crazy about the overcast sky background. Because of that, i would have considered shooting on another day, if possible. |

| I think I know who submitted this one. Only because of the "suspicious" similarity to another recent entry ;-) In any case, it's certainly an interesting photo. I don't think I've ever seen antennas / scaffolding on top of a church tower. I presume, then, that the illusion is that the antenna tower is right behind the church tower? Made me look several times to figure it out. |
