You may not understand what you are doing, but you are doing it perfectly! See how you have reduced the leafy background to just a pattern, almost like a leopard skin, to contrast with the pattern of the tiger? See the lovely bright area on his cheek, matched by a smaller light area on his eye? First you catch the viewer with that cheek, lead him to the eye, then down the nose to the gentle smile, which points back to the lines in the cheek. A circle - keep the viewer looking around and around your photo and he will notice more and more of what you have created. The whiskers, that tigers have small ears, that the background is actually little leaves.

I agree that this is the best of the three. The whites are still white, and the blacks are still black. Perhaps a bit more contrast would work well here (and maybe a tighter crop?), but I do like the treatment. Good job.

this is my personal favourite of the three. I feel in this shot who have really been able to let the viewer connect with you subject and have given the tiger lots and lots of human qualities such as cuteness, gentleness and playfullness. The slight warm tone works perfectly here.

Wonderful!!! Perfect use of the duotone mode. Love the expression. It's sweet and kind despite their carnivorous lifestyle.
