Ah, the Segway. A precisely-engineered, gyroscopically-stabilized marvel. Too bad just adding a third wheel would have done the job just as well and cost a few thousand dollars less.
The morning that the topic was announced, I drove to work and saw this guy on the opposite side of the intersection. Luckily, my camera was within reach and I snapped this picture of him through my front windshield just as the light was turning green.
Post: Rotate, crop, levels, resize, usm, desat and colorize to simulate a sepia-toned image. The flowers in the back were pretty, but distracted too much from the Segway rider. Plus, I think it's funny to have a sepia-toned black-and-white image of such a futuristic (if uniquely useless) device.
Futuristic and uniquely useless--an apt description of many dot-bomb companies from this era. |

| Not a big fan of the sepia coloration on this one. It looks too faded, IMP, and the person starts to get lost in the busy background. For instance, the hydrant is really hard to see at first. Still, it screams 2001! 7 |

| 4 - I like the concept of this shot for this year but in my opinion, that is all you needed ('should have') in the title, just the year. Criticism; also given the year depiction, a color shot would have been better in my opinion. An original shot though.. a photo of this put into a time capsule for this year would depict 'an aspect' of this year for future generations. Color and just the year, and likely 7 if not 8 from me. |

| I've seen these things on TV but haven't seen them around where I live yet. I don't really like the sepia tone and overexposed look of this photo. Doesn't seem appropriate for the subject and the time period. The background is very busy and the fire hydrant behind the scooter is distracting. I would like to see more detail. |

| It's funny, some photos in this challenge could have used this treatment. However I think it harms yours because it looks older than it actualy is. |
