I actually took this photo in my livingroom with my dad (4score) as the model. I had him splash his fash with water to simulate a sweaty singer. I called for the makeup department to spray him down....but sadly, nobody showed up because I foregot to hire anyone for makup in this production. I think its going to his head! He thinks he needs a "stage name" now that my mom and I should call him around the house. :)

For lighting....I set up my SB-800 flash behind him for the rim light. I also made a homemade "snoot" with tin foil to direct the light toward him so it didn't illuminate the rest of the room. I had another stagehand (my mom :) hold a black board behind him to keep the background out of the shot.

Editing....

I only did a crop, USM, and tritone.

Wish me luck!

Chris

I loved the photograph & also your "Photographer's Comments" (above). Given his expression and degree of dampness, how's "Old Glue Eyes" for a stage name? No? Well, it was a very nice effort from both photographer & model anyway!

Beauth is in the eye that beholds, and I really don't like looking at the sweat dripping off this guy. Unpleasant subject. Also, how do we know this is music?

Face/skin is a tad flat. Im sure you probably couldn't avoid this with lighting issues being out of your control. The clarity and expression make it a good photo.

A very intense photograph, stripped to the bare essentials, and all the more successful for it. 8

I like the backlighting, which highlights the sweat nicely. Shame the face isn't sharper, it's just a little OOF.
