Wonderful colors . Good photo, it just doesn't feel as alive as the theme of the challenge suggests to me .

I do not understand your message. You obviously want me to look at the red body of the guitar, but I do not know why. You used the flash for this shot didn't you. Did you try to take a blown out image and make it look better with the selective desat? If that was what you were trying it won't work. You just end up with a blown out b/w shot. To make b/w truly work, you need definition. You need texture. With the flash, you blew out both of those making it impossible for the b/w treatment to work.

how did you keep one color element and still abide by the rules

Maybe a little washed out., like the colors

focus is very good. lighting is kind of harsh, with the blown out area by the pickup a distraction. wish you had included the entire volume knob. strum is in a strange location.

The desat makes it a bit flat for me. I'd like to see more contrast in his hands. THe light might be a tad harsh, so it washes out the skin detail. Hope this is helpful. :~D

probably not the case, but seems to be "too posed"

eh....it's a hand on a guitar.... but it seems kinda flat.

perhaps trying a long exposure to simulate/capture movement would make this more interesting

Overexposed? Lighting is a little on the harsh side.

Wow, not usually the best place for a plectrum (over fingerboard). Anyway, I like the selective desat but the onboard flash (work of the devil) has really spoilt the shot, look at the shadows under the fingers.
