this photo does meet the challenge nicely .. the nature state of the blue and orange works well and the composition lets everything stand out on its own and come together very well.
I would have to say if the live saver was a little brighter may have bumped the score up a little .. but i do stil like the immediate contrast of the blue and orange. i like the way you cropped just half of the saver in the photo .. although what i think would look cool too if you can move the life saver was to have the blue sky in the middle of the ring ... but it looks like that it's securely fastened to the pole ... the simple black border also works nicely ... keep up the good work :) |

| Thanks for allt the comments. I think maybe I should have used some complimantary flash to brighten up the lifesaver, but unfortunately didn't think of that at the time... When I took the show I wasn't thinking of the challenge, saw the colors later on when looking at my shots for that day. |

| Both the colour and the positioning of the close element versus the nice landscape help the life ring to stand out. The brightness of the sky does slightly diminish the impact (there's a lot of paler colour around the edges rather than a level of blue that matches the level of orange) but a different angle probably would not have worked as well for framing purposes so that's probably fine. |

| I think a uv filter would have brought out the color of the sky and water. Nice compostion though |

| The life ring is too far up in the frame, I think. Perhaps if you could gotten a slightly higher perspective it would have been more effective to me. |

| You have one of the complementary pairs, but it would be nice if the photo were straight and if the orange lifesaver would have better light on it. The mountains and clouds in the background are beautiful, and I really like the almost purple tone of the sky. |

| The mountains and how the sun shines on the water is absolutely beautiful. However, the lifesaver stand (I don't know what else to call it) is backlit against the sky which is kind of washed out. The orange color doesn't really stand out very well. However, I like the idea behind the shot and the composition. 8 |

| Good idea, but the lighting could be better (the blues are too bleached and the orange in the shade isn't vivid enough) |
