A building in Stockholm. Fiddled with the levels quite a bit on this one to get the orange to show up properly.

I'm still happy with the results.

For those that wondered about the clear blue of the windows but clouds in the sky, it was a rather odd day. The clouds pretty much bisected the sky, clouds to one side, bright blue to the other. It was the strangest thing.

FROM THE CRITIQUE CLUB

Hello, Matt,

I remember looking at this picture during the challenge and thinking, "What beautiful windows! I wish the walls (the sides of the building) weren't so much in shadow." Architecture shots are some of my favourites, and you seem to have an eye for them.

The photo meets the challenge without problems.

Focus is OK. Exposure, hard to know, but the sky is very light and the walls quite dark. The detail on the walls gets a bit lost as a consequence. It's hard to get both the bright sky and the walls right in this situation. Like a couple of your commenters suggest, maybe it would have been better to leave out the sky (or have very little sky) and concentrate only on the details of the beautiful building.

The blue of the windows is very beautiful, and I like it how it's not a flat blue, but shows a shadow of the inside of the window frame. The two open windows add character to the picture. It's a pity you couldn't spot edit and get rid of the two little wires peeking over the edge of the side. Like another of your commenters mentions, it is curious that the windows do not reflect any clouds :)

BTW, I very much like your "Wild Bonsai" photo. Keep up the good work!

Beautiful colors, great image!

9 - would be a 10 with bright blue sky. :) I love the color you managed in these windows - and the reflection in the open one. This is a great find of the complementaries in "nature."

Very engaging and interesting image! Implied lines really make this image pop.

Aaahhh...it\'s refreshing to see someone using some creativity to caputre the shot. Very nice.

the colors are saturated nicely

ahh..what a great find! I think the sky is a bit distracting, but love the building, the angle and the colour of the windows. Nice capture. Could have benefitted from a bit more light though. :) Seems a little dark

While I see what you were doing here, and the way the reflection comes off the sky is very nice, I'm afraid the building colour fades into neutrality enough that it doesn't highlight the 'complementary' bit for me.

Love the depiction of complementary colors in this.

The blue refection in the windows of an orange colored building is a great use of the challenge. The windows have a nice shape and makes the photo interesting. The only drawback is the washed out sky in the photo. In my opinion, I believe that it would have been better to crop out the sky portion more to fill the picture with the vivid colors of the building. 7

nicely done but the slightly different blue shades clash and draw the ey away from the house i think , nice contrast on the walls and windows though

This is very nice! Specially the blue in the windows. Maybe it would have benefitted from a bit more light on the concrete of the house. I'm not sure..

Certainly a different perspective and at the same time fitting to the challenge with the deep orange and blue colors - 8.

Has lots of drama.

meets the challenge and the one different window works well.

really good...like this one.

this is a tough shot because the shadowed building against the bright sky means one is underexposed and the other is washed out. i think the crop is a little tight, but the building is very nice and i like how the windows came out.

The windows all reflect blue, but the sky is quite cloudy. How did you do it? I like the blue in the windows more than the sky--perhaps more sky could have been cropped out.

this is an intriguing architectural photo... with blue reflections like that, I would have focused on the red wall and blue windows and left the sky entirely out of this particular scene... nice work :) = 7

Good capture - and good thinking. The non-frelected skyy ruins this for me though - especially that green/blue cast from being slightly over-exposed (this may just be a personal bugbear of mine. Did you try cropping it out? I'd have thought that just the building and windows, with that one slightly open window to upset the regularity, would have made a fabulous shot. Good wrk, nevertheless.
