I remember this shot very well from the Shoes Challenge - I scored it an 8.
Composition:
I think the overall composition is wonderfully complete and well balanced. You have a strong set of shoes on either side of the "focus" of the shot.
Lighting:
Outstanding... The fact that you were able to pull this off without blowing the white highlights (using a white background) is a testament to your skill. One of the few flaws I see in this shot though is the overexposed "wool" of the child's shoes, causing a loss of detail and presentation.
Focus/DOF:
Both very good. I was surprised at the amount of detail visible given the distance from the perspective of the outside border to the shoes themselves. It's not tack-sharp IMHO, but pretty darn close.
Color:
Also very good. The combination of a very well focused shot with nice rich, deep, natural tones, was great. It's nice to see a vibrant, contrasting shot that is not "overdone"; and this one isn't.
Overall:
Very good shot and one that not only meets the challenge well, but has a lot of merit on its own. Great job.

| one of a very few that are of shoes alone that I actually think is good. composition and colors are appealing, concept is good, and the technical control shown by the clean background and soft shadows is impressive. |

| Nice composition. I like the contrast of the shoes against the white background. Looking at the stiching on the childs shoes one looks green and on the other it looks blue. I do not know if thats my monitor, my eye, or it really is that way. Anyway, I like that effect- adds interest. Good luck |

| This is a cute idea. Compositon is good, background works. Boots are very dark on my screen without detail. Framed nicely. |

| Not a big fan of frames and seeing all but the subject removed, looks to computer touched and unrealistic..sorry |

| I like how the kid's shoes are precariously balanced atop the mom's boots and the dad's footwear. This has an interesting sense to it. Good use of bordering as well. |
