Such a sad story is portrayed here, evoking emotion in a photo is a wonderful thing, and you have done that here. Fantastic. |

I think this will score high in this challenge - love the texture, composition, black & white. My one complaint is that the white frame detracts from the gritty, somber feeling of the shot itself - black would have provided the contrast to make the photo pop. 9 |

Interesting photo, I believe I would have tried to move in a way that brought the subject down more into the photograph. |

Good contrast and interesting shot. The shoe theme here is understated, but i think that works quite well, as it reveals something about this person and their situation. |

This is an awesome photograph. I like the tonalities and how the background fades to white. The woman's pose has something mysterious, as if the was somehow isolated from her surrounding. 10. |

very emotive and a great black+white. the elements at the top of the photo detract slightly, but i do understand this angle was required to get the shoe in the shot. |

Great texture. Interesting subject. Something dark right next to head... very awkward. |

I feel ANY good photograph is in some way "photojournalism." For, in fact, shouldn't a good photograph contain information worthy of one's daily journal? This shot cannot (and will not) be pigeon-holed into a category (landscape, still life, etc.) It is expansive enough to touch all of them if the viewer wishes to make the connections. In turning a theme as nebulous as "shoes" into a warring, brooding, epic story complete with plot and subplots; you have lifted not only the theme, but the viewer as well and gone to where a good photograph can take us. You have added a page to my journal today. One of my picks to ribbon ... which is usually a curse to mediocrity among the mass voters, but hey.... I read what you wrote here and appreciated your penmanship. |

Good B&W, the contents work well in this tone. The gradation from light to dark in the upper part is smooth and pleasent.
I like the composition, but would prefer a more square crop. The space in the lower fifth of the photo does little for the photo, it could do without.
A view on someones back like this, with the shoe on the floor, makes me wonder what the person is doing. The effect is some kind of curiosity and expectation. A good way to catch the viewer. 9 |

This has a sad loneliness of the city feel to it. The perspective is good. It has the impact I think you're going for, by the use of the black and white filtration. It's effective in its simplicity. |
