Greetings from the Critique Club

Hello my name is Travis and I will be critiquing you photo.

This is a pretty good photo, I love the texture and lighting. There is really not to much I can say about it, but I will tell you why it scored low. There are no shoes in it. People on DPC think inside the bow when it come to challenges. I like the photo and if it had been in a texture challeng I would say it would have made to 20 at least.

Well thats it if you have any questions or comments please feel free to pm me. I hope I helped.

Travis

Not much to keep your attention here, but an interesting perspective. Could be called crime scene.

Lovely textures here on this one. Caked, slightly dried mud makes for an excellent picture.

A beautiful textural shot, well lit giving a good contrast which accentuates the form nicely and really picking out the footprints. The compositon could be stronger (slightly) by coming in tighter to the further footprints and giving a tiny bit more space between the closer pair and the viewer, although I feel I'm nitpicking with that point. My biggest problem is that your idea although very well executed, could be just a little too far "outside the box". There's a fine line between that and missing the point; ie: not fulfilling the brief. 5

Appears to side step the challenge theme.

You might not have known how literally voters take the theme on this site, so prepare yourself for a low score. But most people here probably do understand your meaning of "shoes through the suggestion of shoes." Unfortunately it is this outside the box thinking that doesn't wash too well here. As for your piece here: while you are saying the shoes have been here and are gone, you only say they sunk in the mud before they left. This could have been stronger aethetically if an element or artifact had been left behind, beside the prints. Something with a contrasting color left on the ground in that center left area ... perhaps something expensive or potentially important, like a watch or a keyring with key. Just something either mysterious or contrasty adding one additional color would have lifted this out of the mucky mire and up to a higher realm of interest. 4.

This is intresting but maybe you should have left the actual shoes there?..

Good potential, but lack of proper top-lighting on the mud makes it hard to see the tracks.
