This shot is awesome. You were right on with the lighting. Excellent.

I was surprised to see that this wasn't in the top three this week. It was one of my favorites, but I didn't have a chance to comment. I love the "wet" feel to the lighting on the chain, and the graduated background, as well as the lovely, simple composition. Great work!

Interesting composition - they feel off centered JUST to be off-center, and not violate any rule of thirds and "don't center the subject" rules - what about a diagonal composition for this? That way there's no question about it? 7

I like the symmetry of the chain, and the shiny reflections. Nice bw. :)

Yikes - it looks like it's made of black ice! I love it.

I love the graduated background here, and the detail on the chains. Wonderful lighting!

This is a absolutely terrific shot. This should do extremely well in the challenge! The use of an everyday object to make it look like a piece of art is a very special talent that I feel this truly demonstrates. Not only did you meet the challenge well, but I feel the composition, tones and border selection are outstanding. Good Luck in the challenge - 10!

The chain links almost look like they're made of liquid, of slightly-melting ice. Gorgeous lighting and focus. Bold choice to leave it as dark as it is, but I think it was a good one to make.

Just a little too dark for me. I would have like a touch of diffused ligt in the background to lighten up the picture.

Interesting glass-like texture on the chain. I like the lighting in this as well, which highlights what would probably otherwise not be a visible texture.

oohhh.. i like it.. i've always gloved glossy surfaces like this.. and the reflections you have are just right.. i'm not sure of the positioning of the chain itself in the framing, but i couldn't tell you how to improve on it, so i'll say that it's good :)

Excellent photo. I'm very curious to know who did this photo. The way the chains have water or oil on them was a great idea, or great capture, whichever applies. It really makes the detail of them stand out in terms of all the great highlights. The highlights really make for some outstanding contrast between the chain itself and also with the background. Excellent work. I was giving this an 8, but I think it deserves a 9

This is an interesting piece. Instead of rough and rusted textures, we have greasy and slimy! Definitely different. (a working chain!) And it looks kinda cool on the dark graded background. Its just a little too dark, I think, to be really effective.

I really like the way the light reflects off the chain, but I think a little more contrast would help the photograph.

I like the background, and the focus is perfect.

This is pretty cool. It looks like it has been dipped in oil and still shiny. I would like to see the whole thing with sharp focus and DOF on it. It looks like the top 2 links are a touch more in focus than the rest. Still very cool

beautiful work... the background highlight really strengthens this image significantly... the chain almost looks wet with the light cast on it... great work :) = 10

This is amazing, the thick color and shine makes the chain look so tough, this will definetley be among the top 10. 10

Technically immaculate. But for some reason, it doesn't catch my interest quite as much as I'd expect for such a solid macro shot. Maybe the subject is too simple?

Plain, simple and beautiful. Nicely done! Excellent lighting, great contrast, e erything was just done very well here. Why did you decide to use the gradient background.. the only thing I find is that near the top the black blends into the background. Otherwise a very nice photo. -9-

Needs more midtones and highlights. Too much dark tones in this I think. :(
