Interesting image the roots and tree are definately in wonderful focus and as you look at it you can almost feel the bark of the tree. The depth of field you used works as well the tree in fine excellent focus and the backround still visible and "readable" but not in focus.
As I look at it my eye is drawn to the left where the brightness is in the backround, possibly cropping out that one section of the tree would have worked and the distracting homes in the backround would be gone.
In all it is a wonderful black and white, keep up the great work.

great contrast and lines! I like this shot, but without the sky, I would have cropped that out for a more abstract sort of composition that really drew the eyes to the roots and their lovely twisted curves. :) |

Great capture of the detail. Very desolate looking to me. It almost looks like it is them against the world. |

good detail and textures here. maybe you could see how it look with a little bit tighter crop on the left side. the buildings on that side are a bit distracting. very nice photo! |

Very nice composition here. The roots form the base of the photo and do a good job at keeping this grounded--just like real roots! THey are ever so slightly out of focus, but the tones and contrasting lines of the trees do much to make up for that. Very nice work! |

Normally I find landscape shots boring. That's just a personal preference. However this is a great shot. I think the duotone brings out all the great textures, and shapes. I really like this shot. |

I love your main subject, however I'd like to see a cleaner background. Great range of tones. Good job. Jacko. 7 |

Would have preffered to lose the background, the buildings detract, the foreground is great! |

Great idea but the background distracts me too much |

If you could have opened your aperture a little more so as to blur the background shoreline some, we would be able to just focus on the great shapes and textures in these roots. As it is, the houses in the distance keep drawing my eye away from the trees. 8 -danny |

excellent shot :) very nice exposure as well... the tonal range here is great and this makes a nice duotone. The curves and chaos of the roots are a strong element in this photo... = 8 |
