oh, I forgot to ask, incase anyone else decides to read this. I have a question about the softness. Someone mentioned it's too soft for them. I think it's the lense I have, it has a very soft focus. How can I fix this in Photoshop, or can I? Do I just need to save up(way up) for a new lense with sharper focus? |

Very nice angle. I think your angle defiantly helped this photo step from a straight on shot. The dim lighting is nice and very appropriate for the piece. I think this is probably a harder subject to photograph because the idea is basic but so perfect for this group. I would have brought the image in some, maybe cropped some of the fireplace or played with makes the subject fit into the law of thirds. Sometime I just try the law of thirds to make sure I am not missing anything. It is really interesting that he may be sitting on a bed, at first I thought it was a couch but since there is no back I would assume its a bed (in addition to the pillow). I also liked that you left the blinds half open. Overall I think you did a good job with the subject you chose. The lighting is nice, I think a harsher light would have taken away from the image. This is a much more respectable first entry then many, my self included. Oh one last thing, I really do like the reflection from the laptop on his face. Good job! |

I like the dim lighting -- it really conveys the feeling. |

I really like the angle on this one; it almost appears that instead of the camera being tilted, everything in the room is sloped. Better lighting would make this image pop out more -- plus although it's a nice idea, it doesn't fit so well if the idea of a "Portrait", in my opinion. |

Different and very stock-photo-like. I like it. |

This just doesn't seem like a portrait to me. If it were lit better and the photo were straight it would look more like a stock photo. |

Hmm this would the only way to take a portrait of my husband. Good shot, I like the lighting from the laptop giving such a strong reflection. |

Good capture. Lighting was done well, but must have been difficult to get exposure right. The tilt bothers me some but basically done well. |

With the photo at that angle I feel as if the water is about to spill off the table and it makes me want to reach out and grab it. I like the glow from the computer around his face. |

Not my interpretation of a portrait. Had the photo been closer and more intimate, maybe. |

I like the way the monitor is reflecting on his face, however this looks more like a snapshot than a portrait. Also the room is tilted (or he's on a boat) |

Need more of the subject in the frame and say "less fireplace". You could have made the interesting glow of the monitor more dramatic. |

I feel myself leaning to my left when viewing this picture. Could use some rotation. |

This is more of a candid (slight slanting angle) than a portrait. |

I think this would have been more effective if you had made sure your camera was level - the fireplace and window frame as well as the table are all rotated. |
