This was going to be my portrait entry but I figured I'd get such bad remarks because it wasn't a person, so I gave in and did a human model instead. I do love this shot though. Tank's peering into the back door. I used a diffused filter, then adjusted curves, cloned out a few drool spots and did some burn on his eyes after cropping.

The softness is so nice. Great shot of man's/woman's best friend.

i think tank is gorgous, he could be part newf ;) i think this is almost perfect, if not for the over bright background, not to critisize, cause i used to never pay attention to that until i started getting reviews a year ago! since than i have learned a lot! esp with white and black dogs, shooting them on overcast days is best.
do you have a polarizer on your lens? it may help on those days you want to shoot when it is sunny.
otherwise it is a gorgous portrait, and if i were you, i would still enter my pet as portrait!

This is awesome, Judy! You are getting great at those filters. It has the same softness and appeal your RAIN entry had. This definitely would warrent a frame and hang on the wall!

Tank: Good boy!

I love this as a portrait. He does look quite noble. And I would have been happy to see more non-humans in the portrait challenge. I wonder if you could have gone a little darker or possibly upped the contrast a little. I love that you can tell he is sitting by the window waiting for someone!

Yes, gorgeous color portrait :) And Tank is very, very handsome. Flat coated retriever maybe? I like the wistful feel to this, like he's gazing outo the window waiting for you to come home and play! I like the softness of the background and the glow of his fur. Definitely a "hang on the wall" shot

Ahem...nice COLOR PORTRAIT here. There's something noble and grand about the dog. I do like the contrasting foreground and background.

What a lovely pet portrait. Almost like a painting. Great tones and hues in his coat.
