This is a well composed photograph, with the calligrapher framed by his work.
As this is advanced editing, improvements to this photo would have been to clone or crop out the sunlight in the left side and using something to reflect that light to the calligrapher or by working with your brightness and contrast to bring him out and make him the focus of the picture. Those are the only two areas I can see that need improvement on.
Congratulations on a very nice photo :) |

Yeah! Gotta love white guys writing shufa. I haven't practiced in a long while either. This guy is GOOD. Nice table too.
I guess he knows his hand position is off for Chinese style writing. I don't know what the Japanese influence has been on it though. Proof is in the pudding though.
I would have liked it even better if he was writing characters that had more direct meaning to your title too.
Edit: looks like there is no support for chinese characters in posts...

Good feeling ;-) That's better than I can do (but then I don't practice). |

wish this were brighter, you'd have to blow out the light part in the lower left to do it, but I think it would be worth it - love the story it tells |

Although I feel like a voyeur, I like the portrait and your photo gives me the feeling of an artist at work. Nice job. |

Very appealing photo., possibly because it is so thoughtful or the guy is goodlooking. I think I would have liked it better without the curtains, they aren't adding anything of value and neither is the light on the left. Appears slightly underexposed on my monitor. |

Interesting composition with nice contrasting shapes. I would have scored it higher if it were brighter. |

lovely picture, very serene. if the characters on the wall are his (yours?) then his calligraphy is impressive. there are a few things that could have helped this in the post processing:
1. cloning out the bright spot in lower left
2. increasing the contrast on the image
3. a bit of sharpening
- but this remains a very good photograph in any case. 8 |

I like the composition and imagery. I think you need a great job framing the image with the drapery...really cool look- feels like I'm peeping in on a man lost in deep thought. |

I like the material that diffuses the background making the subject stand out. |
