Hi Marbo! This is a Critique Club critique (and my first, so let me know if it is detailed enough...)

This image completely captures the idea of the assignment in a very clear and literal fashion. I like the word play in the title. It is a whimsical shot and although fairly ordinary in its content, I think it the context of the challenge it works well.

From a technical standpoint, your tonal range is very good. Exposure is good, even on the highlighted areas of the head and top of the shell. DOF is a bit shallow as can be seen where the leg in the background blurs too much. Textural details are brought out very well with the skin surfaces of the legs and head and the folds of the neck being the most obvious. Seeing the tongue gives extra interest.

I assume this is a pet or a friendly local turtle from the fact that you've given her(?) a name. As such, I would think that you might have been able to position her better in the shot, avoiding some of the foreground grass that is occluding her tongue and face.

Overall, a fun ordinary shot of a common animal, but one that was executed nicely.

Love this shot/idea, but framing is a bit off for me (can't put my finger on it exactly), so couldn't give the 10

The skin of the turtle adds nice texture to the photo.

is he sticking his tongue out? :) Cool shot, though not quite the place you call home, it is that turtle's. I think I would have liked to see a little more of his shell in this shot.

As the title indicates (and the challenge topic), the main subject should be the shell not the turtle. Ignoring this, the image is composed and exposed well.

Excellent photo. Great title. I love how you were able to capture the tongue. Great concept, very creative. The color balance is nice & the lighting isn't over-powering. All around great pic. One of my faves for sure. Good luck.

I'm going to have to grade this down a bit for not being about YOUR home, IMHO. This is of course just my own (perhaps over-narrow) interpretation of the challenge, but I have to draw lines somewhere to make judging easier, and I feel people who tried to shoot their own home deserve a better chance at high scores.
