I did it this way because I really don't know what to call home right now. There is my house in Iowa, my college in Ithaca, New York, and my current residence for the summer, my bro's apartment in NYC. One thing that is always with me however is the little pink stuffed animal. "Mau" is 19 years old, she was there when I was born, and has rarely been away from me for a night. She has gone through multiple sets of eyes, and when I first got my dog, Mau had to receive a new nose. She is named because when I was a child I couldn't say "meow". She is a pink cat, that is almost thread-bare, but I love her. The bear was a three month anniversary present from my bf. I've only had him a little while, but I needed something else in the photo. He's from the build-a-bear place, and my bf named him Sid.

Photo taken with a manual 28mm Nikkor lens.

I like the background story. I had a cat named "Ticky" when I was little because I was trying to say kitty and they couldn't understand me ;P
I think the main problem here is that wide aperture. Focus is soft. Without dramatic lighting or some color or something... there's just not enough interest. It's sweet, but maybe if you showed a little girl's hand holding the doll upside down or something. It just needs more emotion and interest.
I also think the strict challenge topic voters probably didn't think it fit as well as some others. I can see how it signifies home to YOU, but most ppl who look at this wouldn't get a home feeling.
Overall, its a decent shot that just doesn't stand out enough from the masses. Judging the shot strictly on its own, its a good shot but not a great one due to the focus issue. It could also use some more light.

The depth of field appears to shallow, the "paws" of the bear are out of focus. Other than that, the title adds a nice emotional feel. It lets you know that these are probably a reall attachement for someone. That may not be the case, but it feels like it.

Awwww. this is so soft and adorable. Nice color. Not sure about HSH but this is cute. The cat seems a bit grainy or something. Wish the face was more clear.
