CRITIQUE CLUB CRITIQUE

Great job with your choice of subject. It really does say "sound" to me (though that may be because I am married to a guitarist). I think what makes this shot unique is that you perservered to get the vibration of the string, and that could not have been an easy task. Oddly enough, I think that was the best string to choose because any of the others would not have seemed so balanced to me.
Your lighting on this is wonderful. You catch the nice "tone" of the wood, and this helps to add to the "sound" element of the guitar because I can just imagine the "warm" sound of the instrument.
I like that the strings are not at a straight vertical, but rather at a slight angle. This makes the shot more dynamic, I think (no pun intended).
It seems to need just a bit wider cropping/framing, but I'm not sure without actually seeing it.
Great work and best of luck in future challenges. |

Probably what I should have done, but I did something a little different. |

Interesting composition here - The colors aren't particularly exciting, but the one string that's moving is quite good. 8 |

Vibrating string - a good visual reminder of sound. Cropping on the left would help the eye to see it better. I like the curve of the guitar against the dark, but I wish the edge on the top right wasn't cropped. |

Normally a shot like this would be dreadfully boring, but the cropping choice is interesting. You captured the hues of the wood really well also. The black background is a perfect match to the scratch-protector (I forget the name), making an undulating pattern of black, yellow, black, yellow, black yellow... (8) |

At first glance I almost thought this was static but then I caught the string vibration. Because of the colour tones in the shot it doesn't immediately draw the eye, but the more you look at it the easier it is to see it and focus on it, so overall a reasonable shot. |

Nice idea, but I think it would have looked clearer with a thicker string in motion. 7 |

Awesome. The captured vibration of the string really is in the essence of the challenge. Great contrast in the colors and great composition! 10 |

10 for concept, 8 for execution: 8 overall. :-> A little more interesting composition might well have pumped it a bit higher, but still, very good. I hear the photo (which is my major grading criteria for this contest), and it's an appealing image overall. |

i like the focus on this shot and the way a small amount of light is shining in from the bottom right corner you get one of my high scores well done mate |

interesting feeling of negative swpace with the black on the guitar and the black background. It gives it a modern art/alien feel. Excellent photo. |
