CC: Not sure I really see the liquid in this shot, but that aside. The flag could be a good subject. I think to enhance this you need to pay a bit more attention to the background, which is cluttered and a similar colour to the flag.

As a result the foreground subject merges with the background jumble and makes for a less than clear overall impression/ message. You've accentuated this by having the lighter/ whiter part of the flag against the rather blown out sky, again merging and losing the foreground focus.

Hope this is useful.

Flowing on the air= liquid? Nice colors.

Can't see any liquid connection. Well, ok maybe liquid as an adjective? Still doesn't work for me. The lighting is too dark and the focus isn't very sharp. An OK job of stopping the motion. 2

It's cloth. Cloth is, unfortunately, a solid.

nice photo although I would call the motion "fluid" rather than liquid...

I see you've gotten the dictionary out and are trying to be creative, so I'll reward you! And I like the idea of this shot. I wonder if there was a way to really capture the "gently flowing" aspects of this cloth. Softer light? softer focus? Point of view from underneath? Closer crop? I'm not sure, but the "gently flowing": isn't selling itself here IMO.

Can't see the "Liquid".

but it isn't...

I like the picture a lot although I think I would like to see a slightly tighter crop. I'm not sure it answers the challenge however.

Inasmuch as silk starts out a liquid and this looks like it could be silk I'm afraid I don't really consider this terribly on topic; ice cubes start out a liquid too, after all. The flag is pretty, but the background doesn't do much to highlight it.

Nice image, good composition, but how does this fit the theme?
06/07/2003 02:20:47 AM
Not really appealing an any level.

I guess wind is technically and scientifically speaking considered a liquid, but I think it's a stretch in this challenge. I do find that your capture of the flag without any apparent blurring is good but also find the colors to be lacking in luster.

Title tells me that you were in fact interpreting the challenge. But while I'd buy "fluid" movement, I just don't get "liquid" from this.

Not seeing the liquid apart from in the title...?
06/05/2003 01:48:43 PM
where's the liquid?
06/05/2003 03:24:18 AM
This is more fluid than liquid. There is a difference, and I think your overall score will probably be lower because people don't make the connection. Aside from that, this isn't really an exciting banner/flag to look at. I think it is cropped a little too tight. 3

sorry, this doesn't meet the challenge in my books.... if the challenge said fluid you might have snuck in...... even with that the image is not overly strong... it appears too sort of messy and distracting with all the design in the flag and the bushes in the background and the fold in the flag.... a bit too busy for my liking.... stick with it though.... technically it's not too bad, sharp and the colours are good, maybe just a fraction more saturation.... good luck, Todd.

the background is a little distracting I feel (might be better if it's just the blue sky), but I love the idea and the butterfly on the cloth!

Really a stretch for the theme.

I don't understand the title. I can't see the liquid in your shot.
