GREETINGS FROM THE CRITIQUE CLUB!

Ok, you're taking a picture of Miss Liberty which is a stature thats been photographed at least a billion times. With this sort of competition, you can be sure your score is going to suffer for every minor detail. We've seen too many perfect shots before....

The shot looks to be in good focus, but the cropping at the knees wasn't the best move. The shooting angle is too average. This angle can work if you have 'something additional' to make the photo original. Like if we had some early morn or late evening light bathing the stature in a nice glow, the angle wouldnt make a difference. But with the current light setup this angle is a bit boring. The cloud formation to the left of the statue detracts attention away from the main subject also...

In short, I'd say its a decent photo, just needs 'something special' to make it different from every other Liberty photo I've seen. If you live close enough to the harbor, I'd say venture out again when the weather/light is more favorable, and get her feet in the shot next time!

Extremely clear pic - good coloring and pleasant shot - I don't hear the 'sound' of freedom.

I don't think this is compositionally exciting, though the statute is in focus, the background isn't particularly interesting, neither is the angle. I understand the tie in with your title, but this still does not say "sound" to me, nor does it create a feeling of sound for me.

I can't say that this is very original, but it definitely expresses the meaning!

On the one hand, I'd like to say that seeing a creative, metaphysical interpretation of 'sound' is good. On the other hand, really, this doesn't grab me. I'm a little weary of jingoistic photos and imagery after being bombarded with them for the last 2.5 years, so some of this is my personal thing.

On the technical side, this is a good photo of Lady Liberty, framed well and taken from a good angle to hit the light. I just typoed 'angle' twice as 'angel', which may be a subliminal effect or may just be my entire lack of sleep.

You get a 10 to offset the American hating 1's you'll get. Great job!

I bet you're getting killed in the voting for this one, because it's a daring shot where the photo doesn't say "sound" without the attached title. That aside, it is a well composed shot. Too bad the sky wasn't a prettier color.

I don't understand - what does freedom sound like? Does the statue make some sort of noise?

or ... "Let Freedom Ring" - nice, a little off center

To me, a photo of an inanimate object doesnt make me think of sound.

That is a beautiful picture of Liberty! The lighting and framing are absolutely perfect. Shows great detail to. I like your take on the challenge. I wish you the best of luck in the challenge. 10 in my book
