General: Focus is sharp and the contrast is good.
Composition: I think what would probably have helped with composition would be to include the Guinness tap in the background but blurred.
Exposure: I can't see anything wrong with the exposure. There are no blown out areas, nor are there any significant dark areas with no detail.
Impact: With the composition you chose I don't feel that the image has much impact. A different vantage point or as mentioned above a more interesting background would probably help with this.
At the very least, I hope you enjoyed the Guinness after you finished shooting it.

Mmmm after voting on 202 of these liquid shots, I'd take one of yours. |

This photo is uninteresting and appears that not much thought went into it's taking. Here's some suggestion to improve it: First, a nice big head of beer dripping down the side of the glass would add more interest. Also, while I like the background, the fact that it ends and the beer is sitting on an ugly table makes this look like a snapshot. Get rid of the table by using muslin, canvas or other type of cloth for your background and have it extend down on top of the table and have your glass of beer sit on it. Also, backlighting of the glass of beer would have given you more interesting colors in the beer and a seperate light for the background would have added depth and an overall better effect. Good luck in future challenges and I hope this has been helpful to you. |

A different coloured backdrop would have highlighted the glass and contents more but I think I kind of like the close match between it and the foam; you've got a nice shades-of-yellow/brown going on here, although the table (pine, I'd guess) is a little bright in that case. Not as dramatic as the other Guinness shot I've seen so far but I like the slowly rising foam effect. |

Overall, the image itself is a little bland, with it being neutral upon neutral and not 100% crisp. I'd like a background/base that contrast more with the subject tonally. However, the "story" of the cloud moving through the beer makes this feel like an object in motion, and the thing you notice about the image is the liquid in the glass. Overall, I definitely like this photo and I think it meets the challenge well. |
