Lower Windmill K (ondermolen K), located at the Molendijk near Schermerhorn.
Build in 1633 and one of a group of windmills that pump the water from the lowlands to the surrounding canal. They pumped it in stages, every mill takes care of a certain elevation. This is one of the lower mills, the one in the background is the accompanying upper windmill G.
At the moment the windmill cannot pump any water. The water pumping mechanism is in bad condition and taken out of the windmill. Besides that, the original supply canal has been lowered and rerouted. They are working on this situation to get the system working again (for fun).
The wooden structure inside is original, but you can imagine that the mechanisms and reeds don't last 400 years. It has recently been resurfaced.

Took this photo at 9 in the morning on sunday. When I left home the light was a lot better. It only became worse. This happens every time. When I work and don't have time the light is great. When I have a day off or in the weekend the light is blah.

The lower third line is the horizon and the left vertical third line goes trough the middle of the windmill. Yeah I cropped it to get there, but you cannot expect me to step into the water (no zoom on a prime).

Editing;

NC: curves, contrast tone to normal
PS6: rotate horizon, crop 4:5, curves, channel mixer, chroma noise reduction, color balance (added some cyan and yellow), brightness +5, contrast +5, USM, resample, USM, SFTW.

I like this photo, but I think to really meet the challenge the cross of the blades should be on a 1/3 intersection line.

Nice reflection and that boat draws me into your image. I just wish you could have had a nice bright blue sky for this.

I personally would have liked to have seen this a little brighter, but I'm still giving it a 10.

The touch of red makes the shot. Love the windmill!! I wish the sky color were a bit more vitrant. The reflection in the marsh is pretty. It might be fun to try a single color sat, by ridding the shot of all of the color except the red. Just a fun thought. ;~D
