Shells placed on blue tagboard near sunny window with curtains drawn; macro setting on camera, used white Playdough to fix small shell to larger shell (it shows but I like the illusion of a live snail); image was sized for DPC then lightly sharpened

Absolutely spectacular shot! This couldn't be any sharper and the lighting is perfect. Love the natural rich color tones and the blue background was a very good choice. Excellent work.

lovely picture, meets challenge, I do find the shadow distracting and would have preferred diffferent lighting. colour of background is wonderful!

7 - Nice and simple. Criticism; would like to see a little more detail in the texture, perhaps a touch more contrast and the 'base/background' a touch less defined. Technically, while no 'expert', placement is pretty good, but I would like to see it somehow even stricter, especially for the Challenge. It is the seemingly 'natural find' of this little shell in/on the bigger one that you are capturing, that I first liked about this shot. The shadow is nice too. edit:typo

Really nice image, with the light was just a touch softer but it meets the challenge very well.

Excellent. The only part that detracts for me is the shadow.

Pretty. The blue and brown turns work as nice contrast to each other. The lines on the table other than the shadow are a tad distracting but the clarity of the shells makes up for it.

For images like this, try using more than one light source, since the shadows cast eat away fine detail. goos subject
