 Would this one have done better? My friends liked it more -- I didn't ask them until too late. I felt this one looked a little flat and unnatural, like it's been oversharpened. I don't believe I used USM on this one at all though.

Oh well, just a couple experimental entries, playing with lighting techniques. Apparently it needs work.

This is a great photo. I'm a landscape, duck and "bug" man so I'm not even going to ask how you set this up.

I really like this one too. The light ripples are wonderful. I am curious what the effect would be with the same set-up except that the shell be placed up off the background (glued or taped onto a small (not to be seen) pedestal)).

This is VERY nice. The composition is great, the lighting is good, and I really like the texture (sand imitation) to the left. Minor drawback is the lighting probably would have garnered a few "too hot" comments. It's borderline on the extreme left on being overexposed. JMO of course. ;^)
