 I had more fun with this. The uglier I got, the more I laughed. My son wanted me to put it in the "Season's Greetings" or "It's a Girl," but I didn't have the nerve, although I love irreverent cards with a funny unmatched picture on the front.

Applied character filter with Virtual Photographer, some minor cloning and crop.

Greetings from the Critique Club :-)

Personally I think this is a great shot, a very funny take on the challenge and the sort of image I'd buy on a card. Focus and lighting on the face is excellent, good grungy feel to the editing.

I think in this challenge dpc voters were looking for traditional 'pretty' shots (:P tongue in cheek since I had one... fluffy ducklings)or images that tugged at the heart strings. Out of the box, creative work like this got voted down.

Keep up the good work, your portfolio is inspirational.

Hey Judy - I didn't know this was you! It's a great "grundge" image! What you need is a cigarette hanging out of your mouth and titled it"

Hillarious idea! The Joey Lawrance type of photography works nice for you ;-)
I can actually see this one on the card, and another one with the cheesiest smile on as I open the card.

A very gritty interesting look tonally. I think I see what you're trying to convey, but it just doesn't say humor or birthday to me. The image actually feels a bit disturbing, which isn't necesarily a bad thing at all, I like a photo that stirs an emotional response, positive or negative, but, IMO, I just can't see this as a greeting card at all.
