i dont see the 'liquid' in this beautifully worked photo.

I bumped you from a 3 to a 4 at the last minute, because I assume that's a pool of oil there. The fact that I missed it before pretty much tells the story why it didn't do better - the focus is way to blurry on the oil. Perhas a change of angle, some better lighting, and a little work on the focus would have improved the presentation. 4

I would have liked to see the oil, to have a sense of something liquid in the picture, and it seems like you let your focus land so tightly in the foreground that even most of the second gear is blurred, and the upper half of the picture is blurry enough to be highly distracting. I like the concept of the shot, but I'm not sure the angle/focus/crop/something was quite right.

nice limited dof pic. i'm guessing that most voters are gonna mark this down because the picture isnt actually OF a liquid... sure it has a liquid in the shot but I doubt anyone would look at this and say it's a picture of a liquid

I love the lower half of this photo... maybe it would have worked better for me if there was only 1/3 of photo with negative space, rather than half as here. Nice interpretation of challenge. 8

Its a nice picture, but I fail to see the liquid.

Interesting. Makes me wonder what a longer exposure photo of the parts moving would look like. Assuming that this works. It could use more light underneath

just a little more focus on the liquid (which is what I assume that is in the middle there) might have been more on topic..... I kinda like the cogs and stuff though.... might look cool in b/w or sepia too with a little more contrast.... good luck, Todd.

It's a nice picture, but I find it very hard to spot the oil.

Hmm, the oil is hard to see and that detracts a bit from the topic-meeting aspect. Good shot of the gears and the thingie, I have no idea what this in specific but it's obvious machinery so a natural setting for the oil.

i understand your photo of oil being a lubricant. but it would be nice if liquid is actually shown in the photo
