FIRST IMPRESSION: Maple syrup... but seeing as it's Karo Syrup, I wasn't too far off. The specks on the spoon are a bit too pronounced, I think.
CHALLENGE: "Liquid, not water" was the challenge - as you've used karo syrup, the challenge is met.
COMPOSITION: There's something about that spoon that I'm not crazy about, maybe its darkness, or those glare spots. I like the liquidity of this shot, with the immersion effect of the poured syrup into the pool.
TECHNICAL: A bit of glare, and a little bit in the way of too much contrast between the spoon and the shadows. Since the bowl is not really an integral part of the shot, its defocused edges work well to bring the eyes back to the syrup in the bowl.
CONCLUSION: Meets the challenge well, and holds my interest as a viewer. The glare specks in the spoon, and the color/flatness of the spoon itself are a slight problem, but overall it's a good piece of work.
Thanks for sharing and good luck in future challenges! |

I think this is the third picture I've seen with this title. Also a fair number with the topic. Lighting seems odd -- either that's a very dark-coloured spoon or it really is on a bit of a strange angle. If the spoon is actually dark-coloured, it's a good choice to give contrast. Not terribly interesting to me overall but it does meet the topic just fine. |

like this shot, and the bubbles in your liquid, but the harsh shadow beneath the spoon distracts. I would have tried to get some light under there to eliminate that. |

Yum. Corn syrup? I like the way you've closed in on that drip from the spoon. This image would be enhanced even further with more interesting light (more dramatic, angled, etc.?). |

The shaow of the spoon (the handle disappearing into the top left) gives an interesting depth - wish you could have featured it more in the composition. The shadow under the dripping honey workes well to highlight the dibble. The sides of the photo are uninteresting, maybe crop closer to the "action." Perhaps some deeper gold tone would work well with the subject and title. |

The dark areas give this quite a restful feel, being quite interesting to look at as a foreground element rather than a backdrop. |
