These guys are very common and will often pose for the camera, unlike, say, the red or blue ones, or the really big oniyanma. (And damselflies are pretty hard to capture, too).
I agree that the front eye should be more in focus, but I know it's really hard to do when you're working with such shallow DOF and trying to hold the camera still, etc. And, yep, crop off a bit of the blurry foreground. |

Looks like a good sharp capture. Lighting seems pretty good as well. I suggest cropping the right significantly, taking his head out of the center. I'm not a slave to the rule of thirds, but this doesn't appear to be a case of exception. |

I like the composition, and the colors work really well. There seems something a little off about the focus - your DOF is extremely shallow and it seems as though you've focused just past the eye to the back of the head, leaving the front eye out of focus. I do admit that that could be an optical illusion & I'm just not seeing it right, but when I go back and look at Jacko's bugs, it seems as though the eyes are the focus (just like in human portraits) when the DOF is so tight. |

Excellent advice and suggestion, I will try exactly that .. god bless ya matey. |
