| I've never seen this before, and didn't even know what it was called prior to taking the picture. For those of you that are in the same boat that I was, it is a Sundog on a Cirrus cloud. It occurs when ice crystals in the cloud refract the sunlight, similar to how rain makes a rainbow. Sundogs typically occur on cirrus clouds, in the evening as the sun sets and the red is typically on the side of the sun. As best as I can tell this was a text book Sundog. |

| Wow, interesting clouds. Great orange spot there. There is a spot towards the top like something from the lense you might want to check out. I wish the blue from the sky was a bit stronger but I know we are limited in this challenge. |
