???? Why wouldn't this be valid???? Very nice shot! Border color is a might bit off (too tan), but that's picking nit, really!!! I could wish the fence wouldn't be there, but that's asking for too much! Overall a cool shot! I like it! 9 Rob the Swash |

Poor captive. What was his crime? |

There's a sense of drama and movement here that is very engaging. I certainly want to read this article! |

Love it, wish I'd thought of it, there's a wolf sanctuary a couple of miles from my house. How did you catch the howl, though? I've visited the sanctuary several times and not heard or seen one yet! |

I like the wolve's pose and the border is perfect, but I think you should not have used such a narrow DOF as I believe the picture would have been more effective with the background fence in focus, given your title. In addition, I find the branches at the top of the photo to be distracting, and wish the wolf was not half in sun and half out. |

Very nice. I'm not big on borders but this really makes it cry National Geo. |

LIke the blur but not sure if it is allowed selectively(??) as it seems to be - all the same an 8 for me |

Very cool picture. The slight blur around the wolf doesn't feel very "National Geographic" to me. |

I wish there was just a bit more clarity to the focus. Your timing was perfect to get this shot. Composition and appeal are great. |

excelllent shot of a wolf..... maybe if you could next time play up on the captivity part....for example the chain link fence in the background is a major part and has been blured out to the onlooking passerbyer |

You captured "The Howl!" The crop is not my ideal because the legs are cut off. I think in light of that I would have cropped tighter to include the close up of head and shoulders, or include the entire wolf with the legs intact.
The detail in the fur is very good and that pose is classic. What a beautiful animal. |

Way to catch the howl, very nice. Shot seems rather blurred everywhere but the muzzle and vicinity; I think a sharp focus on the wolf entire would have been preferable. I think NG is more prone to wild than captivity themes but it doesn't seem entirely unlikely. |

Love the photo!! Border was un-needed and actually takes away from the photo. |
