 Separated the birds from the background and made levels and curves adjustment on each. Dodged the duck to make him brighter. Increased saturation.

Post challenge:
I haven't had the chance to look up what kind of duck it is, but he really had those little poofy feathers on his head. This was taken at the grounds of a castle, so I just assume he's a royal duck :-)

Thanks for the helpful comments - especially about the colors being washed out. I never know if it's "too much" or "not enough" when I upload a photo to a challenge. This kind of comment really helps to know that I should add a little more, darken a little more before uploading.

oh my gosh, such a great photo! LOVE the composition. if anything, the sky reflection in the pond may be a bit light/bright, making it difficult for my eye to really focus on these adorable birds. such a charming photo!

At first I thought this poor little duck had a hat. I didn't realize it was his feathers :) This is funny and light hearted! Great shot!

cute idea :0) I would like to see more blue in the water. very crisp image.
when you see a line like this around the image just do the border after resize & USM (learned that one the hard way myself!) 7
